Not even running related per se. I did a really good 7.5k just over a week ago, nice and fast and a nice sprint for the last half a k... all was well until last Monday when I had a two day work event in Ipswich... my choice of footwear was my ratty old Merrill walking shoes, did about an hour of walking as part of the commute and ended up limping I the end of it.
By time I got back late last Tuesday my ankle was quite painful and to top it all I had a rotten cold. Cut to Saturday and after a week of inactivity other than a gentle 3k light jog on the treadmill I decided that the ankle had receded to a niggle and the cold was just a light sniffle and I was more than ready for a parkrun.
I did the parkrun and had lots of energy left, even did a 5:38 split on the last KM... fast forward a couple of hours and the cold had reminded me it was there by shrinking my lungs to the size of a walnut and my ankle was not performing well under load.
I’m doing this weekends park run for Leukaemia as part of a work initiative to get people doing C25k and completing 50 parkruns and I may have to walk it☹️
... feeing sorry for myself with my foot up and ice on the offending ankle.
