Hii guys . As a regular check up my mom went for ultrasound scanning for neck ,right axilla and left axilla , supraclavicular region and cancer marker test CA 15-3 , CEA ( as she was earlier in 2016 diagnosed with breast cancer stage 2 and spreaded to left side lymph node with small size). All the reports went normal but this particular region of left axilla showed evidence of 16×15mm enlarged round hypoechoic solitary left axillary lymphnode seen with loss of fatty hilum and minimal internal vascularity
Impression is here like this : solitary left axillary lymphdenopathy likely neoplastic ( metastatic)
So took the reports to our surgical oncolgist and he saw reports at first and said that all lymph nodes should be removed . Again planning for small surgery for left lymph nodes
Here are my questions, is that necessary to remove all the lymph nodes?
affected lymph node cannot be treated with radiation or chemo ?
removing all the lymph nodes of left axilla is enough without further more treatment?
any risk involved by removing even the unaffected lymph nodes also ?
The removal of affected lymph node itself is sufficient or not means can't we just remove only the affected one
Really devasted. now plz suggest an opinion in this situation
