Hi Jill, its really sad to know, on the basis of provided info, you should go and discuss with genetic consultant may be there is some gene mutation in your family which can be cause for the Breast Cancer.
A per NHS guidelines this referral will be triaged and you will first be offered a pre-test counselling appointment within 8 weeks to understand the implications of cancer genetics test and its positive and negative findings and its limitation.
You definitely have a strong family history of cancer. As Dr. Rohit has suggested above, the right thing to do would be to get in touch with a Genetic Counsellor. After understanding the implications of the same, you will be offered tests, which you can undergo.
Let us know, if any confusion prevails after you meet with the counsellor and we will guide you.
My grandmother had breast cancer, mother had bowel cancer, brother had testicular cancer, but I have been told by a couple of doctors that the concern is greater when the same cancer is in two generations eg. if mother and grandmother had had breast cancer. So it is not a given that you will have inherited the same genetic predisposition. However, I would always advocate awareness, self checking and continually asking questions until you are satisfied that you have the answers you need.
