Shirdi vein problem happened with me too. In fact one or two of my veins are still black. Why don,t you get a port down for your next 4 chemos. You can suggest this to your Oncologist. Try applying Orogel on your Tongue half an hour before your meals so that you can eat well and do eat and drink well. Drink plain water as much as you can, it takes the toxins out of your body.all the best darling, everything will be fine we are all with you shirdi.God bless you!
PORT is a very nice system for delivery of chemotherapy drugs.
PORT is a one rupee coin sized (but more in thickness, about 8 mm to 1 cm) small container which is connected to a tube. This PORT is placed in a small pocket below the skin of the collar bone and the tube is inserted in the vein in the neck. A needle is inserted in the PORT to give chemotherapy. This makes it very easy to give chemotherapy.
PORT insertion is done under sedation or snesthesia and is not at all painful.
For most of my patients, I counsel them about inserting PORT right during the primary surgery itself.
Port is a really good system. I had a port and I had gotten really attached to it (I'm kindda silly like that). But once you have it, it may feel a little uncomfortable in the very beginning, but your body eventually adopts it and so will you.
