Recall after 2nd annual mammogram

I have been very lucky. I had a lumpectomy for DCIS 2 years ago. This recall is the result of my second annual mammogram and is from the radiologist not the breast surgeon. I had 6 weeks of daily dressings after my lumpectomy as I had a large haematoma ( I'm on anticoagulants) which left a deep hole! The good news is that it healed beautifully from the bottom and I have less of a dent than I was promised.

Has anyone had similar experience with recall after DCIS and what was the outcome? I have already gone through every possibility not helped as OH waiting for test results too and tries to say right thing (bless) but usually winds me up!!

Hi

How soon do you have to go back following your recall? If it’s from the Radiologist it may simply be a blurred or poor image.

You are perfectly within your rights to ring & ask why? I had a recall, years ago so l rang & asked, it was a poor quality image, so a lot of worry & it was actually simply a poor mammogram!

Let us know the outcome.

Quick update. The recall was for a small area ( looked about 3mm when they showed me) that wasn't there last year. Had tomography type mammograms in both directions, ultrasound, and the usual 3 core biopsies and insertion of marker. In and out in less than an hour. Results 10- 14 days but warned it is bank holiday. Even if it is not the news I want I'm feeling positive as it is tiny. Thanks for your support.

Thanks for the update, you’ve had all the tests, so it’s just waiting now, which is the hard part 🙏🏼

Let us know when you get the results. 🍀

Hidden Got a phone call to go for cons appt yesterday. My cons on maternity leave but this young woman was very nice and it was the same bc nurse I saw 2 years ago. I have further DCIS and grade 1 invasive cancer ER positive and HER2 negative. Which nurse explained all good things. Am having another lumpectomy and sentinel node biopsy on Sep 19th then radiotherapy and hormone treatment prob anastrozole. They are hoping if all as expected no chemo. Feel much reassured now there is a plan and have requested the treatment centre I would prefer ( live halfway between two) as it avoids less city driving.

Once you have a plan in place & you know what you are up against, it’s so much better than dealing with the unknown & it’s good you can choose your Treatment Centre as well.

Wishing You All The Best 🍀
