Hello all yippee!!! Got a picc line inserted yesterday, fairly painless, no paracetamol. And no bleeding out despite the heparin!
And today's 3rd fec treatment was 100% better than the last! So much easier what a relief. No more anxiety about receiving the next 3 treatments.
Also lucky enough to get a free foot massage yesterday just before the picc, that was nice and relaxing so that helped too. Had to really push for that and arrange it myself despite the hospital connection. But so good will include that in my life going forward.
Feeling positive! About everything. 🙏❤️😁

Glad the PICC Line is in OK & the Chemo went well today, just be a bit mindful this is the third one & the effect can be cumulative, so take it easy for the next few days.

My chemo this time was administered by the Sister / Head nurse too so I was looked after a whole lot better than last time. I used a scarf around my lower arm as wore a tee shirt for access to the line, and that helped and was offered blankets and asked if I was cold. Much better 😌.

Lovely to hear you feeling so positive. Fabulous about the PICC - my centre recommended I rest my arm on a warm hot water bottle 4 times a day for 2 days following the PICC insertion. I followed the advice and feel sure this has helped to keep my PICC line in good condition. Hope they gave you a 'limbo' or similar to cover it up when you shower too. A bit awkward to put on but works better than clingfilm. Caroline
Hi Caroline I was sent away with a leaflet of advice on buying a limbo online or going to Boots for something similar so will do, tho I have to say I don't have many showers as I don't have any hair to wash these days! 😂😂😂. At last I don't need to clean the shower plug so often 😉. Leaflet also suggested heat pad 3-4 times a day for 20 mins for first few days which I'd forgotten so was pleased to be reminded!
A limbo costs over £20 so I asked my GP for a prescription for one - and now I have an NHS Medical Exemption Certificate I get free prescriptions (as we are all entitled to have with a cancer diagnosis) I got my limbo without having to pay for it.
You are having a tough time and hope the PICC at least makes the administration of the chemo easier.
Hi Louise oooh yes reflexology. She found my solar plexus and my husband bless his cotton socks tried to do the same last night to help! 😊. Today my neighbour will give me the number for a local lady that she, neighbour recommends. Mmmm.
Glad you had a much better experience this time round, it makes all the difference.! Loving your positivity too, but please take it easy too and still get some rest.. I know easier said than done sometimes, but it can catch up with you, I was hit with a cold just after my 3rd FEC treatment which landed me in hospital for 5 days.!
Hi Sandy many thanks for the advice. I currently take my temp twice a day and not taking paracetamol currently. I've read your posts, thank you. I hope you got to legoland 😀. And absolutely love the blonde wig! I'm planning a second longer more highlighted one for the summer. Good to hear you made it through 👍🏻👍🏻.
