Hello everyone has anyone been given Iasibon/ibandronic acid medication to take after masectomy? I’ve had neojuvent chemo the left breast off and lymph nodes removed in April 2020. Then 4 weeks radiotherapy then another 12 rounds of chemo. I finally got my right breast removed in January this year. My oncologist has given me these meds to start. Anyone any experience.

Thanks xx

Hi there. I’ve taken ibandroic acid along with letrozole for about 2 years. I don’t think I have had any side effects from the former. You do need to take it on an empty stomach with a full glass of water and then remain upright for an hour. You can eat after half an hour. I tend to have in the morning then go out for a walk before work. I was told to consider taking calcium tablets as well. I buy boots calcium & magnesium tablets which also have a daily dose of vitamin D all for bone health. These should be taken at a different time to the ibandroic. I bought a cheap and colourful am/pm weekly pill container from amazon so I’m less likely to forget. Wishing you all the best with it
