Hi everyone hope your all feeling ok and keeping safe and not going stir crazy being on house arrest 🤪just need to ask a quick question I finished radiotherapy on the 20th and because of the covid situation and I’m high risk with other health problems they gave me a condensed 5 day instead of 15 the trails are complete just the report waiting to be written but they pushed it through. I’m now getting side effects which I knew I would under my breast on the fold is red raw but I’m also getting red/brown spots as well which I wasn’t expecting🤷‍♀️anyone had a similar reaction xx

I think this is one for the experts! I expect they warned you of unexpected reactions, just they didn’t know which ones you would get. It’s probably unusual to have a five rather than fifteen day course.

Give them a ring tomorrow. The NHS is concerned that people may not want to contact them in the current situation, but that they should if they are worried.

Big hugs, I decided not to do the radiation, I have too many other health issues. I am doing chemo and hormone blockers. I hope you feel better soon

Hi

Trying to remember what happened to me and yep the red raw I had and skin peels of boob too so its not unusual I am trying hard to,remember name of a plaster type thing your Dr. Can prescribe the ones I had were a pink/salmon colour about 1.5 inches square they feel weird but you just place it in the fold/under your boob and its relieves there is no adhesive round the edges but for life of me can't remember name thought I had one still lurking in drawer but sods law no such luck ... I was given mine firstly by the breast care nurse team at the radiotherapy unit I attended then from my G.P. I am assuming they told you to use E45 UNPERFUMED has RED top or Aloe Vera but my skin didn't like AV don't know if u are in UK or not? Can't remember spots of any colour but it was 3 years ago and the memory fades

I still have skin burn though I am very fair with pale skin and it looks like my nipple is much larger... Oh the joys of RT so at the end of the day yes it's damned painful but will subside and eventually go but if someone can tell you what I have described they are amazing and you can leave them in place for a few days no need to change them daily

oo sounds rather painful, having 15 squashed into 5 must be quite an assault on the body and I assume is the reason for the soreness. Yes do seek some help from the healthcare people, I am sure they can help ease the pain. Good luck and keeps safe. xx

Think this is probably because your treatment was compressed into such a short time frame as I have k own this happen to others. Would suggest you co ta t your Macmillan nurse who can probably help you - it's one of the things they are there for. Good luck and hope you come through.

I finished mine at end of Feb. I had 15 not intensive like you however the week following I had those side effects start. Started being itchy and then like little red/brown dots. I then got a few blisters. Under the boob and under my armpit. I was prescribed some polymem dressings by the radio team to help. I was told it’s a common side effect but best speak to the radio team for advice. I also got very tired. Hope you don’t suffer too much. I was advised cream in the fridge and get the air to it as much as possible. Easier said than done.
