Well that sucks! Sending a big *HUG* your way. I know how scary a cancer diagnosis can be from personal experience. I had an entire lobe of my lung removed 5 years ago and went through chemo. Hang in there and try to keep a positive outlook. It helps.

Get support from wherever you can. I have found these discussion groups to be most helpful.

I just had biopsies done on microcalcifications in both breasts and am waiting for phone calls from two radiologists to hear the results.

I appreciate it. Wishing you the best as well. Just heard from the Breast Center nurse regarding ultrasound-guided biopsies performed on Friday. Totally benign! *Phew* Waiting to hear about the stereotactic biopsy performed yesterday. Hoping for the best!

Thanks for the prayers. The good thing is no cancer was found. The bad news is that they found atypical cells. This was in a microcalcification. Now I am scheduled to go talk to a breast surgeon. The cells are not cancer, but could develop into cancer.

I had dysplasia which is pre vaginal cancer cells. This was in my 20's. They preformed Cryosurgery. In my 50's now and have never had any further problems there. I had Breast cancer but over 20 yrs later.

I hope this is of some comfort.

It may get a bit tough going but you can do it. Be as positive as you can (You will get so sick of hearing that) when you are feeling good keep busy, when your tired, weak and feeling rough, sleep through it. Your body heals in sleep. Listen to your body. Pkan little treats for yourself, a new book, visit yoir favourite place etc do these on good days. Accept help but also dont be afraid to say no thank you at times too. Tell everyone before you start that chemo will give you a low immune system and catching anything will hinder your recovery so ask them to respect your wishes and stay away, well away if they have any bugs at all until they get better. Look after you. If you lose your hair dont worry, its a bit liberating actually, also hair grows back. We all rock that bald look. Treat yourself with kindness. Sending love and best wishes for a full recovery for you. I wrote a blog, feel free to have a look, you may be able to get some encouragement from it. elainemurphy66.blogpot.com

It's very good advice from Lainey and I found what she told me really good. I am so sorry about the diagnosis but I too had Grade 3 ER+, PR+ and HER2+ breast cancer. I had chemo before for 7 sessions over about 5 months then 1 month off and surgery, mastectomy. You can do it, I managed to and wasn't in the best health when diagnosed. It is surprising how strong you can be and your body is a marvelous thing. I wish you all the best and please keep in touch as it will help you I'm sure to speak to others and share any dark times with everyone on here. Be positive and I'm sure you will get through whatever is thrown at you, be strong. Sending lots of love to you, xx

Thanks I’m just taking things a day at a time at moment so it doesn’t get too overwhelming, the nurse yesterday was lovely, but I didn’t take much in to be honest, I’ll take a pad and pen on Monday 😂

If you can, take another person with you. A second set of ears really comes in handy. Discuss with your doctor what some of your concerns are about chemo. I was pre-medicated to ward off such things as nausea and vomiting -- a steroid, a histamine blocker, and good old Benedryl. Also I already have some hearing loss and was concerned about hearing loss being associated with the platin drugs. Something I read online, not something the medical team brought up. My oncologist changed the plan from Cisplatin to Carboplatin, which has fewer side effects. During the 3rd of 4 rounds of chemo, I had an allergic reaction to the Carbo, so she discontinued it for the fouth round. Keep communicating. Don't be afraid to complain!

Hello there ! Yes it is a huge shock but I’m several moths on with the same diagnosis and had a mastectomy with some nodes removed and am near the end of five moths FEC and Taxol Chemo . It’s doable!!

I promise . Not enjoyable exactly but the weeks pass and even when side effects are a challenge there is plenty of help to manage then . Every good day is worth celebrating with something nice and when you are tired put your feet up!. You will be ok but take it slowly ! Thinking of you and hoping you are coping with things today .

Best wishes and hope for the very best outcome !!

Thanks I’m prepared to do what ever to get better, there’s just a lot of information to take in, my husband is getting tests for goj cancer at the same time it’s just a whirlwind of emotions at the moment. Xx

in reply toShihtzumom

Hi

Do you know what type of tumour it is? I know it’s stage 3 but the type is important as it can cut down on the reading.

I would just like to say how sorry I am for your sad news. Please do as much research as you can from medical sites, ask many, many questions and gather biopsy reports as well as testing results. Mistakes can be and are made. After going over my post-op physicians notes after a lumpectomy, I noticed for final diagnosis was “pT4d”—inflammatory breast cancer! I didn’t have one symptom of it, but it seems that’s all the tumor board went by because suddenly my oncologist called and said I would have to start aggressive chemo immediately. When I showed it to my breast surgeon she left the room for 5 minutes, came back and said, Oh, it was a typo! A typo!! And apparently I was the only person who noticed it! There are a lot more details but I just wanted to say to everyone to check and double check and don’t be afraid to ask about anything that doesn’t make sense to you! I wish you all the very best!!

My husband went through 3 types of cancer (throat, prostate, and skin) so I can relate. I was lucky in that both of us were not undergoing cancer treatment at the same time. The skin cancer treatment is probably for life, but very quick. He is seen by the dermatologist twice a year and anything suspicious gets zapped right then and there with liquid Nitrogen.

Ohhhh that isn't the news you were wanting at all. I know your husband was recently diagnosed as well!

It's gonna be a bit of a bumpy ride for you both.

What is the treatment plan for both of you? Did they say how many lymph nodes?

I will say prayers for you both! Keep us updated as you go, if you feel up to it.

I'm not suffering with cancer just now so I'm free for moral support, if you would like.

Most of my illnesses don't tick a box and none have a specific treatment. So it's simple pain and suffering. Not the heaviness of cancer. I still have supportive shoulders to lean on, so feel free to PM and just have a shout.

Very big hugs for you, husband and family. God be with you at this very important time.

Thinking of you 🙏❤️

As I've read in the replies I noticed I forgot to mention, yes it is very very doable to beat! Ahhh and remember to drink water as you have your chemo. I remember that helping so much. 3 litres is what I remember.

Just remembered what they told me about water. Drinking enough water helps pass the chemo through, it does it job and needs to be flushed out.

Hi there

Sorry to see you on here but you'll be glad to have found this place as I find it really helpful like many others I'm sure.

I too was diagnosed with a grade 3 tumour, nearly 4 years ago which I can't believe! The biopsy results also showed my sentinel node was positive for cancer also. Also Her2+.

I went on to have chemo first of all, 6 rounds, each 3 weeks apart, then herceptin injections along side the last few chemo and they went on for a year.

I had a single mastectomy in the December and my pathology came back as downgraded to a grade 2, when I asked my oncologist why the downgrade (Not that I was complaining!) She said that sometimes they can just behave differently and show certain characteristics of one grade but actually be another.

I wish you well going forward.

Hello

I wish you all the best. For me the good thing about being 'aggresive' was that it responded well to chemo. I wish you the very best over the coming months. There is no denying it will be hard, but its do-able. All my love for a successful treatment. Get all the love and help from family and friends that you can. and most of all be kind to yourself. xx Caroline

There’s great advice here and you have a great attitude. I was impressed and grateful to my oncologist... they have such great treatment plans now, i felt very lucky afterwards. My advice: sleep, water, no hair is wonderful, accept help, say no - you are the patient and what you want rules. I learned 2 things: focus on the good in your life and let go of timelines and expectations of when it will be done. (Don’t try to control it). You will be fine.
