I was so happy got my first year all clear this week and a clear smear test all was good. Have been complaining for weeks to my GP about migraines and blurred vision. They referred me yesterday for a MEX eye exam and today I had my eye test. My left eye has deteriorated 3 points and I have cataracts in both eyes in the space of 8 months. Optician said radiotherapy and anastrazole can bring it on. So 2 more ops. I’m only 49 and I feel like I’m 79. Waiting to have bone scan 2nd Nov as my leg is giving way and I dropped the kettle last week. Just feeling very sorry for myself when I should be celebrating the 1 year mark which then makes me feel guilty.
Sorry for the moan xx

Hi I am sure you are pleased you have had 1st year over and clear, you maybe having a few side effects to medication, I know my hubbys cousin had her eyes done in her early 50s after years on tamoxifen. At least they are checking everything for you Deb xx
Hello Ruth well you have good reason to be down in the dumps poor you. Yes the 1st year is over and yes we all know how good that feels, relief especiallybut also maybe there’s an element of tiredness having spent the last year in treatment then recovery so not surprising it can seem like an anti climax.
Always post on here that is what this forum is for. What you are feeling and what you talk about could help someone else feel normal.
And yes 49 is younger than most.
Life is too short for guilt 😌. Remember you have been through a lot and for some the legacy can carry on in different ways.
Hopefully you have also discussed the pros and cons of anastrazole with your gp but if you still feel like further information or support ask to speak to your surgeon; luck8ly mine is fantastic as is my gp and so that could be a safety blanket for you to use.
Thanks Deb I have to take anastrazole as my levels for it hormones were of the scale I have always had pcos but well now no ovaries. It’s just when you get a couple of weeks no doctors no hospital and your back at it again. Thanks for the support xx
Don’t feel guilty Ruth 🌺 l know you should be delighted that you got your first year all clear but these other issues are very real & getting you down.
Bad Luck on the cataracts front, so as you say two more procedures/operations to sort them out, the Meds do have so many side effects of their own which go on to cause us issues.
Glad they are doing a bone scan so they can check for any issues.
Let us know how you get on & you know we are here if you need us! 🌺
Hi lovely.... I'm nearly 6 years in, having terrible pain in my chest since June.. Been breast clic 3 times, keeps saying its scar tissue, my daughter got me private 2nd opinion not trying to get MRI bone scan on NHS, it's taken weeks, & phatigue gas kicked, in, also join pain... Hoping it the menapuse, but I rember it was like this the first year, been OK till now.. Keep strong, & sending strenth&hugs x
Thanks for the reply x. I’m lucky I had my surgery on the NHS but have had my radiotherapy and follow ups privately with cover from partners job. Bit my surgery was so quick 5 days after biopsy results. I have been so lucky in my treatment. I have found it so much harder the effects after rather than surgery and radiotherapy. Hope you get some relief soon waiting on results and tests is the worst. Had glaucoma test yesterday just waiting on the results. Xxx
Same here Ruth, the deterioration is so tough but hopefully they can stop it in its tracks. You should moan, there’s a lot to moan about sweetheart. My knees keep giving way, didn’t think it may be due to medication, put it down to lack of fitness!
If it makes you feel any better, I had cataracts removed when I was 30. Also my 78 yr old mom can run circles around me and I am 50. But I get how you feel. It seems like it's endless sometimes. Celebrate your first year and don't stress about the cataracts.
Thanks ladies sorry not replied earlier I am typing in large text with magnifying glass so I can see. Both eyes done and roll on 15th December for my eye test never been so excited for glasses😂
