Cold capping

Hi has anyone else used the cold cap? As I finished my treatment this week I emailed paxman asking for advise on when I can return to washing and blow drying my hair normally and also when it is safe to have it coloured. I only got a very vague reply! Any info would be helpful! Thanks! Xx

i used a mild shampoo and conditioner and dried hair on a low setting. I tried various shampoos including paxman and found they all worked equally as well so i wouldnt waste money on expensive products.

With regard to colouring,,,, i tried to colour mine year post treatment but colour didnt take. I have heard people who had opposite effect. I left mine two years post treatment before and my hair is great.

My hair was my best feature before and it is getting back to that way again although ends are dry from the chemo,

Hi Lynn.

I waited about 3 months then coloured myself with a semi permanent dye, I had a friend who was a hairdresser tidy mine up as has thin patches and straggly ends so had it cut short and waited for the patches to grow down. Didn’t dry it at all for over a year (mine went really curly after, was loose curls before but ringlets now so air drying made it smoother)

I know the temptation is to treat it like normal but hang in there, give it at least 6 months I think before doing anything too harsh.

You may notice some coming out after but it’s normal, look after it and before you know it it’ll be fab again!

Take care, glad treatment’s over for you, is a fab feeling 😊

I used the cold cap in 2010. I resisted having highlights for a year. My hair was always very thick and lovely, it is now back to that. I have had 3 lots of highlights since. Good luck.....discuss with the hairdresser if they are good they should know
