I had a double mastectomy on Tuesday. The skin under the "garment" the doc put on me is red and extremely itchy. I can't stand it anymore! Ideas???

Unbearable itch on my skin
Could you maybe having a reaction to the dressing? The dressing that is like a second skin made me red and itchy. Get the doctor to check it out in case it is an infection 👍
I felt that too and I had to listen it all around the edges it was the plastic that stuck to you that cause irritation and then I used mipore tape to stick it back down it made it non waterproof but he took off dressings at 5 days and redressed with better Ines less irratition so I would either ask district nurses or call breastcare nurses and going and have dressings changed really helped
I had similar - I was allergic to some of the dressings. I called the number I had been given and they tried another type until we got one that worked. My general principle is - if it doesn't feel right, give them a call to check it out - whatever the time.
Again, I reacted to some of the dressings and adhesive tape. Get back to your breast care team/hospital and get them to check it. Always get any concerns checked out and be as comfortable as possible. x
Agree with all said, I've become very sensitive to most dressings now, it gets unbearably itchy and then blisters. I think for me taht the different washes they put on before and after surgery react with the glue on the dressings. I got a skin infection as I took the dressing off too early after my last op as couldn't cope with with the itch.. Ended up on Clyndamicine for 2 weeks so be careful, call your bcc nurse or consultant and get some advice,
Good luck hope it's not too unbearable

I called the doctor and gave me a steroid and oral anti itch medication. I also cut an old t-shirt and made a "bustier" that i placed between the bandage and my skin.
