Tummy problems 😟

Hi everyone, hope you're having a good day.

Just wondering if anyone else is suffering from very sensitive tummy- even IBS maybe? I finished chemo late January+ was never sick from it. Had surgery a few months ago, all went well. Started tamoxifen about 2.5 months ago+ since then my tummy just isn't right. Is this normal?

Hi😊

I'm prone to indigestion/heartburn anyway, after chemo it seemed to be more frequent. I don't take tamoxifen, could the medication be disagreeing with youπŸ€”xB

I think it might be but its not bad enough to not take it. I'll talk to my oncologist about it when I'm there next.

I was on tamoxifen for 10 years and had no side effects at all - maybe I was just lucky

I took tamoxifen for five years and zoladex, I did have short bouts of bad indigestion/heartburn burn but not bad enough to stop taking the drugs. I used to take my tamoxifen in the evening it could be worth shuffling the time that you take the medicine

I take it in the morning, I might switch + see if it changes anything. Could be that my stomach is just sensitive since chemotherapy.

My stomach has been hell since chemotherapy! Its' been 3 years since I was diagnosed, and this was followed by chemo, surgery and reconstruction. All of these have taken their toll on my system. I'm one of the 25% people (stats from my oncologist) who is unable to tolerate Tamoxifen (or any similar ones) so I just have to be extra vigilant. I eat very sensibly now and try to exercise every day but I do take buscopan on a regular basis to help with my stomach/bowel problems. I find that the plainer the food the better I feel! It's not great if you love your food (like me) but it's the lesser of two evils! Good luck with finding the right balance and I hope the tamoxifen works for you.
