Very positive news in the BBC today about a new targeted therapy for breast cancer - hopefully this will be brought to market quickly given the impressive findings - bbc.co.uk/news/health-35775314

It is certainly positive news for people with HER2+ cancer.

Yes looking good but some way off being prescribed unfortunately, at least things are moving forward.

Yes just reading about it in the Irish Mirror, sounds good makes me have a more positive outlook on life as I went through breast cancer two years ago had chemo and radiotherapy

It's an exciting development but of course not appropriate for all possible breast cancers

im triple negative so dont think it will help me. i think its great but makes people think you can pop a pill and be cured. and cancer is more complex than that.

hi i would wait until the treatments are over. following radiotherapy the skin is damaged underneath and this can affect surgery options. i had double mastectomy after chemo.and radio and had implants at the same time. they had to ba taken out 6 weeks later and ive had to wait 4 months until now to try again. surgery on monday. they are using LD and a small implant on radiotherapied side and a newer type on implant on the other. it is part implant and part inflateable that is permanent. this means my skin can heal before gradual stretching and hopefully match up to other side. as im diabetic i couldnt have the tummy tuck due to healing issues.

each treatment option can change your decision making. i had a lumpectomy at first but then found that i had 7 family members past and present with BC so had genetic testing and counselling and as im triple negative so cant take medication to ward off the cancer coming back i made the decision based on risk analysis to have them both off. my risk is now 5% instead of 95%.

triple negative there us a slight higher risk of it returning in the first 5 years and can be more aggressive as its fast growing. my genetic test showed i wasnt BRCA1/2 MUTATED but they said 7 members is very high so gene related..we are part of the 10,000 genome project that is very interesting.

i am going today to a celebration day at the genetic centre in manchester with my mum..this project will help people in the future but may possibly give us answers.. takes 2 years tho to match our genetic material.
