is there anyone here who could possibly support medical assistance for breast cancer like me?

How come they decided in a mastectomy when the surgeons are trying in doing, in majority of cases, only lumpectomies?

Also, in a few cases they decide just to monitor it if it's a ductal carcinoma. I had an invasive breast cancer and wanted to have a mastectomy, but my surgeon convinced me not to.

Is yours tripple neg?

Hi I am due surgery on the 5th Jan 2016. I am having a bilateral mastectomy and lymph nodes removed on the left side. Was there a great deal of discomfort post surgery? I wish you a full and speedy recovery. E 😊

I didn't have a great deal of discomfort or pain. I didn't have lymph nodes removed but I did have a lymph node biopsy previous to my operation and recovered fine from that. I didn't need much pain relief in the hospital either. It's a little journey and I wish you all the best for it but you will be fine keep talking to us in here I find support is great but try not to Google too much because you find out stuff that's totally not relevant to your personal situation and it will only freak you out. Xx

Hi all I had left mastectomy following diagnosis of ductal carcinoma in July I also had reconstruction on the same day using my own tummy tissue called a Diep Flap. They felt a mastectomy was my best option because there were calcification changes in a totally different area of the breast. wasn't in the lymph nodes and was her negative so I didn't have to have radium but I I'm having 8 sessions of CMF chemo. At the moment on number 6. Recovery from surgery was better than I thought and I wasn't in pain just tightness and discomfort . In February when I'm finished I will have 5 years of tamoxifen. I feel very lucky funny enough because I know friends who are not caught as early as me and have had a lot more radical treatment. But I'm very interested to know about the Tamoxifen how are you finding it. I've put on weight with the steroids and treatment etc and I really just want to get my body and my life back now
