miscarriage no period

Hi all, I had a miscarriage on july 17th. I went to hospital and the nurse took bloods and confirmed that I misarried and my HCG levels were 5.

(I was 5 weeks pregnant) I bled for 7days.

We try again between then and now.

i haven't had a period yet.

its been 31days since I last was bleeding.

Do I count that time frame as a period or was the bleeding solely from the miscarriage?

TIA

Hi sorry to hear about your miscarriage 😔.

After a miscarriage it is not easy to predict when the body is ready to ovulate again and have a period. It can take much longer than your usual cycle or it can be much quicker. That makes dating a further pregnancy difficult and it makes it impossible to predict ovulation, even with ovulation tests sometimes.

31 days doesn’t sound that long. It took 6 weeks for me to get my first period after a miscarriage previously. Have you had a negative pregnancy test after your miscarriage? If you have then the best way to check if you are pregnant is to test now again. If not then it will be hard to know if a positive test now is a new pregnancy or the hormones from the previous one, although HCG 5 was quite low already.

It’s hard after the disappointment and heartbreak of a miscarriage. I also wanted to be pregnant again as quickly as possible. But your body will need to do what it needs to do and all you can do is look after yourself and wait and see what happens.

Good luck!
