What shall I do

I am 12 days late for my period. I have taken a pregnancy test and it said negative. Is it too early to tell or should I go to the doctors and seek more advice?

Have you been tracking your cycles to know how long they are? What day would you be on now?

I'm usually on time every month. Was due to start my period on 15th this month but haven't. I had intercourse a few times just over a week before I was due to start

Maybe test again in a couple of days? If not maybe stress is delaying your period? How long have you been trying to get pregnant?

I don't think it will be stress to be honest. And I haven't really been trying to get pregnant if it happens it does. But I wanted to know for sure if I was or not

Best thing to do then is test again in a couple of days. In the meantime no alcohol or cigarettes and try to eat healthily.

Have you had any symptoms at all?

Yes I've had headaches, tender breasts, fatigued and also had nausea

Ok. The only thing you can do is try to relax and test again in a couple of days. In early pregnancy your hcg (the hormone your body starts to produce once you are pregnant) should increase every 48-72 hours. That is why the recommendation is to test again in a couple of days as whilst you may be pregnant, your hcg might not be high enough for the test to pick up but should be in a couple of days time.

When I found out I was pregnant I rang up pregnancy centre and they took my bloods and they go through scans ect I rang midwives up my self and I did not go to doctors as it’s much quicker to it my self.

Before I got pregnant there were a few months I thought I was pregnant and I went to the doctor and said I might be pregnant. They were not interested unless I had a positive home pregnancy test. I had even one doctor say to me: “what do you want me to do about it? You need to get a pregnancy test!” It’s up to you, but I would wait and keep testing every few days. Even if you’re pregnant the first scan is at 12 weeks (3 months), so if you’re 12 days late you’re only 6 weeks (1 months and a half). I think you can easily wait 2-3 more weeks keep testing, then go and ask for a blood test if still no period. Only if a home pregnancy test or a blood test is positive they will book your 12-week scan.
