Hi, my last period began on the 5th march, I have been always very regular. The Saturday 21 I had sex but we used protection. Three days after I had like my period but lighter, but my period shouldn't arrive until this week. What does it mean? Is it my period that arrives early? Can I be pregnant? Thanks

Hi there,

The light bleed you experienced might not have been your period. Irregular bleeding between periods is not uncommon, especially if you are using certain types of contraception. There's more information no the NHS website here:

Different methods of contraception have different levels of efficacy, so it depends of which method you are using as to how likely it is to prevent pregnancy. We have details of all the different methods and how effective they are here:

In terms of finding our if you are pregnant, the best thing to do would be to wait and see if your period, which I'm guessing would be due around 2nd April, is late, lighter or shorter than usual. If it is, then take a test. If this is negative but your period still hasn't arrived after a few days take another test. If this is negative and your period is still late then you should pop down to your GPs or local sexual health clinic just to check there isn't anything else going on that might be affecting your cycle.
