Hi Juliet.

Your first period was a withdrawal bleed from stopping taking your pill. Depending when that was you should expect a period usually within 2-4 weeks. For some women it can unfortunately take up to 6 months for their cycle to become regular again. However, even if your cycle isn't regular or you haven't had your period, you can still conceive so if you do decide to have sex you will need to keep using another method of contraception if you want to avoid pregnancy. I know you must be anxious, but try not to worry. If it has been longer than 4 weeks since your last bleed then I would recommend popping down to your local sexual health / contraceptive clinic or your GPs just to have a chat about your dates.

I hope this helps.

Best wishes,

Katherine

Hi Juliet

I hope you are not too worried, as I said before it can take a while for your cycle to become regular again so try not to worry too much. I think because you are away from your country and because it is 7 weeks since your last bleed it would be a good idea for you to pop to your local sexual health/ contraceptive clinic and you can talk to them about your dates and the pill you were taking.

You can find your local clinic here: fpa.org.uk/find-a-clinic

I hope this helps.

Best wishes

Katherine
