My husband and I are trying to conceive. I had been on Depo Provera since January 26, 2013. My last injection was on August 4th, 2014. We have been trying for a while at the advice of my doctor. My first period was on November 17th, 2014. And now today, although this is when I'm ovulating, I got a lighter period today. Is that normal?

Hi there

Periods can be unpredictable after stopping Depo, so yes that is quite normal. Women are generally advised that there can be a delay of up to 1 year in the return of fertility after discontinuation of progestogen-only injectable contraception and the average delay is around 5.5 months. If you are worried it might be worth visiting your GP again to talk it all through with them.

I hope this helps

Best wishes

Katherine
