Yes like there's a bowel blockage. I paid to see a private gastroenterologist in UK and he was able to issue a NHS prescription for a drug which has helped a little. How were you diagnosed?
I had 2 colonoscopies in a month 6/7 polyps removed why he couldn't of done it in one go I just don't know in 2021 then earlier this year had another colon scan and told it was unremarkable so why I have this Diverticular Disease and IBS I just don't know and I am P***D right off with it all now
I've had diverticular ibs disease for years. The medical term for this is SUDD or symptomatic uncomplicated diverticular disease. It is relative a new type of ibs because it deals with how the colon acts in some people when they have diverticulosis. The majority of people don't even know they have diverticular disease until they get an actual diverticulitis attack. Usually they get antibiotics and put on a bland diet and sent home. For some after these scenarios they get chronic ibs like symptoms lose stools cramping pain, urgency to have bowel movements multiple times. The truth is that for some one the sigmoid is damaged there's no way to turn back even if you have elective surgery. The signiud is the final holding place for stool where all the final account of water is removed and it is where most of the pressure exists. That's why it's the most common place for diverticula. The idea of lack of fiber is controversial. My doctor said he thinks it is due to genetics mostly and not due to lack of fiber except we do have a terrible diet in western countries. To continue once the sigmoid is damaged it thickens and is not able to prepare stools normally. Now you get gas pains, loose unformed stools diarrhea, constipation and cramping. This is chronic and you must manage with diet etc. I've tried rifaximin, mesalamine etc etc. Try to give your body natural fiber, and cut down on toxins. Drink a lot of water and herbal teas to reduce inflammation. Nothing else works except maybe surgery but that comes with other issues that may be worse.
