I have a compression fracture of T7 vertebrae after slipping up 8 weeks ago. Initially treated only with pain control ( ineffective) and only X-rayed last week - saw GP - had blood tests and awaiting results.
Have any members had similar who could advise me re .
Thanks in advance

So sorry learn of your accident and subsequent fracture. I would suggest that your GP refer you to the Fracture Liaison Service so that you are seen by a Metabolic Bone Physician or Rheumatologist as soon as possible. Your GP should also put an urgent request for a DEXA Scan to establish your bone density and assist diagnosis.
I do wish you luck with this and you must be persistent with your requests.
Sorry to hear about your fall. Not everywhere has a fracture liaison service, so don't expect to be referred. I would definitely push at the doctor's for a Dexa scan referral. Also a physiotherapist should be able to help you with exercises or look on Osteoporosis society UK website for exercises, there's also other YouTube exercises for osteoporosis. I'm afraid there doesn't seem to be any great joined up medical services in most areas of the UK. Exercise and diet are the main treatment.
I'm sorry you've had a fall, the pain is excruciating isn't it!!You have to keep going back to your Dr, I've learnt the hard way! Tbh, if you don't keep in touch with them from one week to the next they don't know that you're still in pain. Tell them exactly how you feel, how painful it is and ask them to give you some different pain killers, there's lots of different options they can give you.
It's extremely unfortunate that it seems those that shout loudest get treatment first!!! It shouldn't be that way but it seems as if it is.
You should get the results shortly, I would expect if it's showing fractures that they'll organise a DEXA scan, depends how good your surgery is.
Please, if you're still in pain, make an appointment, even if it's only a phone one and tell them that you can't go on like you are, that you need help. Don't be afraid to ask for something stronger and ask for advise.
Re exercise, it sounds as if it's a bit too early atm. I imagine the thought of trying to do anything extra is too much for you, it would've been for me. Xx
Hi. So sorry to hear of your fall… I too had compression fractures of T 11 and 12, The word agony doesn’t describe the pain. I feel so sorry for you. Mine was nearly two years ago now. And I still have pain. I hate to tell you
I spend a fortune on the osteopath Acupuncture and I have also paid for a REMS scan which is a far more modern Scan to the dexa. It does cost about £200 plus. It actually is well worth it and he has mobile clinics around the country that is the UK. I also do get from my GP stick on pain pads which do seem to help a bit. I’m sure it’s the muscles. That gives the pain more than the bones. Due to not good posture particularly in my case.!!!
I don’t know where you live. I am in Devon and if you want the name of a particularly good osteopath who has also written a paper on osteoporosis please do contact me and I will give you her name and number. Hope some of that might be of use to you. refused the allendronic treatment, but take a very good vitamin supplement extra D3 and magnesium. Hope some of this may be of interest to you good luck. Very best wishes, Jane.
