New to Osteoporosis

Hi there I am new to Osteoporosis and had my first Denosumab 6 monthly jab over 2 months ago . I was first alerted to Osteoporosis on a screening routine lung scan which showed a fracture in my lower vertebrae which I didnt know about. I took a heavy fall yesterday on a tiled floor banging my back and shoulder against a wall and onto the floor after missing a step at bottom of stairs. Very shaken for a while.Shook up but not in any real pain anywhere today. Is this something just to monitor my condition as I would any other time before diagnosis. I am a 73 year old male thank you

Hello Pots11, sorry to hear about your fall when missing the bottom stair. Very easily done and I’m sure that you felt very shook up for a while. So glad that you have started treatment for your osteoporosis. You do need to take care of yourself and whilst it’s not good to wrap ourselves in cotton wool, we do have to be aware that it is very easy to suffer another broken bone. Good luck with everything and don’t be afraid to ask for help now and again. Since my diagnosis, and several broken bones later, I can no longer go shopping on my own as I am unable to lift heavy bags and we now have a cleaner to help with the housework. All the best to you.
