Welcome to my world. I'm still struggling to walk with my 7 vertebral fractures( happened january) . Protruding tum and kyphosis bring me down in mood, but I spend a lot of time researching fashion advice from Mr google! Not so keen on the clothes shops the R.O.S recommend, but I together a lot of help from their many fact sheets on all aspects of osteoporosis. How are you managing your daily discomfort? I'm still searching for a helpful balance of meds plus excercise. Gp surgery are worse than useless sadly, only interested in prescribing meds and getting you put the door, but I have learned a lot from this forum and the R.O.S. currently trying to find the best pair of trousers that are comfortable and don't age me !...All tips gratefully received

I find a hoody or a scarf helps to make mine look less. I can sympathize with you. I can’t do a lot either. I found the only trousers I can keep up is M& S straight leg black joggers. Or for smart ones Cotton Traders back elastication ones.

hi I too have 8 spinal fractures and kyphosis, I suffered months of severe pain, my consultant advised me to wear a Spinomed back brace which helps with the kyphosis and the pain. I am also on morphine patches which last 7 days and give me a small dose of morphine each hour, this has been a life changer, I can now do more. Although the kyphosis and protruding tummy will never go at least I can do more. Hope this is helpful

Thank you so much for replying, it has been so lovely to hear other people stories and the fact that you also suffer with my main distressing symptom of protruding tummy and kyphosis. My pain is under control but my tummy is so uncomfortable especially in the evening. I wish you well and again thank you for sharing

Hi

The Spinomed back brace helps with my tummy as it holds my back up which takes the pressure off my tummy. These braces are made to measure in Germany and take a while to get use to, but I have found it really helpful

oh I have never heard of them before, where did you get yours from?

my hospital consultant prescribed it for me and the appliance department at the hospital measured me and ordered it. I have 4 of them now all made to measure. Couldn’t manage without it

I’m in the UK are you. It has never been suggested to me but then again I am not under a consultant or I don’t go to the GP about it, I have just put up with it

Yes I’m in the UK. I’m under a hospital specialist for osteoporosis, this is something he suggested and it has be great

Goodness me I have never heard of a specialist for osteoporosis! Perhaps I had better start making enquires about getting referred to one. I do know that services are all different depending on where you live

Yes I know services are different across the country, but I think everyone with osteoporosis should be under a specialist for the most up to date treatment

I will do some research, so thank you for all the information
