Which med, suffer migraine

Finished Evenity 3 months ago, need to get on to a drug to hold on to the gains.

I already suffered migraine before Evenity chronic nearly daily but bearable and only one or two zig zag light bad ones once or twice a year. Started on 10 mg Actonel and had 5 zig zag migraines in 3 weeks, came off, started on Raloxifine and after 8 days have just experience a zig zag migraine (worry about having a stroke on this med). Has anyone any experience with migraines and what med to take. I dont know where to go from here and would appreciate any help.

Thankyou

I really feel for you. I usually get around 4 -5 zigzag light migraines each year. I started alendronate in March and haven’t had a migraine since I’ve been on it. I’ve even been thinking that maybe it helps prevent my migraines in some way. I hope you find a solution, getting migraines is miserable.

Thankyou for the information. I am now on day 4 of a migraine since having the raloxifene for one week, so am coming off it and have got the dr. to give me alendronate in 10mg tablets to try slowly after reading your reply. Keeping my fingers crossed it works as I am running out of options.

I am in the US so not sure if this will be helpful but I have been doing Botox injections from my neurologist for migraines and have gone 7 months now without one. I also have Nurtec on hand if needed which was a God send before the Botox.

Sorry if this reply comes up twice, I typed it but its not showing, so doing it again. That sounds really good, where in the head did they put the injections? My migraine is usually back right of head then moved over the ear eye and up the nose. Thanks

My neurologist does about 36 injections. In between eyes on forehead, temples. top of head. occipital back of head, jaw muscles, and along shoulder leading to neck. For most people it takes three sessions for some relief but I saw relief after one session which she said she has never seen. I must be a quick responder. 7 1/2 months no migraine. I also get tension headaches which this is supposed to help with also. For me it's been a miracle. I also have Nurtec on hand in case of a breakthrough migraine.

Ha Ha- Yeah that deep crease between my eyes on my forehead is mostly gone. To add to that I see a medical spa nurse for my 'other' injections of Juviderm. My spa nurse says that even the cosmetic Botox she does helps her clients with their migraine even though it's not as strong..

hi,

I really feel for you with the migraine episodes.

I have bad migraines accompanied by zig zag lights and then tunnel vision, followed by a painful headache.

My GP prescribed Sumatriptan 50mg, one to be taken immediately symptoms commence, then if symptoms come back take one tablet at least two hours after first dose. These have worked for me.

I would make an appointment with your GP, just to assess your symptoms.

I wish you well x
