I’ve just had a repeat DEXA scan after 5 years. My T scores are spine -0.9 (no change), hip -1.2 (previously-1.4). Femeral neck -2.5 (previously -2.2). Will this result in a diagnosis of osteoporosis.
My GP is going to phone me to discuss and is suggesting medication. Is anyone able to give me advice please?

That is still just borderline even if you can trust the DEXA results. If you can get a scan on echo light you might find you don’t have osteoporosis at all. I found that and my DEXA scores were much worse than yours.
Thank you for your advice. The only risk factor I have is that I had to take long term steroids in the past. There is also no family history or osteoporosis or broken bones. I’m very reluctant to take Alondronic Acid or similar if I can manage with supplements and exercise.
I’ve resisted the drugs for years despite much persuasion from multiple people. You haven’t broken any bones so not urgent even to consider. Just do everything to help your bones and get an echo light scan.
All the research I have done on the drugs they prescribe for osteoporosis has convinced me to combat it naturally through diet, supplements and exercise. That’s my response to my doc when she advises the drugs, and she respects my decision.
