Hello 👋😊My physio said it would take a long time to heal and it was really about not straining the area further. Am supposed to be building up my heart post surgery so this is conflicting advice. Though could look at lower body activities to promote cardio strength
I was wondering if Active 8 complete Joint developed by Dr O Connell, GP, might help me recover from the injury? Someone mentioned that Collegen type 2 might help.
Be grateful for any advice or experience of others..... Many thanks

Sorry, I don't have any advice, but thought I'd comment in order to bring this to others' attention. This is an osteoporosis forum, so I'm wondering whether you might get more response from a heart health one.
Yes gentle cardio exercises will be beneficial, just try to minimise twisting your upper body and no heavy lifting while the inflammation heals.
There’s no harm in trying those supplements as long as you check with your GP or pharmacist if you are taking medication for your heart or any prescription meds.
PS this is the Bons Health forum not just Osteoporosis so ask whatever you need. Best of luck
Thanks OlMum. I'll ask my pharmacist.... almost impossible to contact a GP.Have you heard of Active 8 joint support? Or if Collagen type 2 helps heal cartiledge?
This is what it says in the "About" information: We help the nation look after its bones and appreciate the importance of bone health for everybody. For those who do develop osteoporosis, we're here to help them live well.
We are the only UK-wide organisation dedicated to finding a cure for osteoporosis and improving the lives of everyone affected by it.
We have created this group to allow us to reach and help more people who may have questions about osteoporosis.
So it IS only for osteoporosis sufferers? If so please remove me from your list. I'm currently Osteopenia - on Alendronic to prevent Osteoporosis. Maybe I'm better to ring the charity itself.
I'm sorry if I've given the impression that this group isn't relevant to you. Osteopenia is the stage before osteoporosis. It's still bone thinning, so I'd have thought you'd find the group very helpful. I'm sure anyone can join the group, I only made the comment to Waveylines because most people in this group will have osteoporosis or osteopenia, so it may not be the best group to get her question answered.
Gosh this has got confluted. 😂 I AM Waveylines and I do have Osteopenia plus this rib condition. Yes Osteopenia is the stage before Osteoporosis. 😁I was allowed to join the group. You can't post until you join so not sure why this has happened.... Please can we move past it??? 🙏🙏
I was just seeking whether anyone else has been in my position and whether they have found anything that had helped them recover (from the rib injury) Many thanks.
Sorry to hear it, Waveylines. Perhaps someone with experience of the condition or supplement will come along, but you could also try the pain forum or a search of HU.
As a participant who has Osteoarthritis, Osteopenia, Osteogenesis Imperfecta AND experiences Costachondritus I can honestly say this forum is as relevant as any to post in and you are very welcome here.
Re the Collagen T2 I’m taking it for that reason and am hopeful it’s beneficial, I take marine collagen supplements.
The Activ8 joint support should provide support for ageing joints and help increase joint mobility, definitely have a chat with your pharmacist if you can’t get time with your GP.
In addition to supplements stretching regularly throughout the day is vital and Pilates or yoga would be very beneficial if you can join a class or even just move along to online videos.
Thankyou OlMum. I did wonder what was going on. 🤣😂I'll look out for the Collagen T2 marine. How much do you take? Thankyou. That's my first priority. I have reduced sensation left side so can't feel the stretches until my ribs complain. I will have to do this more carefully and make a judgement call. Thank you once again.... 😊😊😊
