Bisphosphonates work by retaining old bone, which in turn interrupts the cycle that would otherwise create new bone. This means in the long run you end up with poorer quality (old) bone, which is why over time a risk of unusual fractures can develop. In the short term the medication does reduce fracture risk, although it only prevents about 50% of fractures.

yeah after reading on canceractive, I am thinking about not having my second infusion, I had a appointment with oncologist, he said carry on with treatment and take 1 adcal-d3 a day waste of time.
