Cambridge area OP exercise class?

I have osteoporosis and would love to find a fun, regular, class run locally in the Cambridge area, which involves suitable weight resistance/core strength exercises and is aimed particularly at patients with OP (and run by a physio or someone who is knowledgeable about OP).

Has anyone heard of such a thing please? ?🤔

I'm sorry I can't answer your question directly as I live in Milton Keynes, but I was recently thinking exactly the same. I was wondering if there is a national organisation that may help direct us, eg NOS?

I’ve been looking for similar in north the Staffordshire area with no success.

I wish there was some way of contacting people in the same area, to meet, exercise, support etc.

The ROS hold some local groups (not in my area) so if you search on their website you may find something local.

I don’t know what NOS is.

Thanks both. I have a suspicion that something like this just plain doesn’t exist in most places which is daft really 😠. I’m waiting for a call back from the hospital physios to see if they know of anything and will ring the ROS too just in case.

I might start a tiny campaign here :0)

I’d be interested if anyone has come across such a class anywhere, so I could check out how it was set up etc.

Hi, osteoporosis2000.co.uk/site... - I found this service if that gives you any help - if only we lived in Sheffield. Did you find anything?

I’d also love to find something like this! North east England here. Also too many things are day time - I work.

I’m in Herts and following the birth of my boys I was referred by my GP (at my request) for Physio and a Physio led Pilates course each time to help with chronic pain from OI and Osteoarthritis which had been exacerbated by the pregnancies.

There were people of all ages recovering from injuries or building strength so I’m sure there are classes similar to this up and down the country to get you started.

Ask your GP if you can get a referral for Physio and in particular Physio led Pilates to help strengthen your core and reduce the risk of injury.

Alternatively you’ll need to be lucky and discover an instructor who has Physiotherapist or Osteopathic background.

Best of luck 🤞🏻
