Does anyone know whether taking strontium supplements or calcium supplements can make gallstones worse. I have been suffering with gallstones for 6 years now and dont want surgery so have a very restrictive diet. Lately, since increasing calcium and taking a small amount of strontium, the gallstones are irritating a bit and I am feeling a bit nauseous. Of course, it may not have anything to do with the supplement. Oh, and I started 100mg Lactoferrin every second day. but only for the last 3 days.
I read that gallstones can contain strontium.
Any ideas? Thanks

I hope that you are feeling ok and not nauseous from your gallstones irritating you. I had a think about it and I don't think that strontium or calcium supplements affect gallstones.
When I read that you eat a restrictive diet because of gallstones I thought that is that the cause of your pain? As I read in a few places that a very low fat diet isn't proven to stop gallstones from growing and might be making them grow.
As your feelings may be right that it may not have anything to do with the supplement and it may be something else entirely.
I am sorry that I cannot help you more and I do not want you to worry. I hope that you are able to speak to your doctor about it and they can find out whats wrong. Take care.
Thank you for replying. It appears to be one of my gastritis attacks as its still ongoing, and I have stopped all supplements and have got the knawing stomach and gurgling etc.Not sure of the cause. I will leave off the Lactoferrin temporarily and the strontium and restart one at a time. Thanks for trying to help.
