Has anyone used this machine which works as a vibration throughout the body?

The reports and trials seem to make impressive reading but it would be good the have more information.

Yep. My numbers in my hip improved but spine worsened. However, I’ve also been taking supplements and playing tennis several times a week so it’s difficult to say what has caused the hip improvement. I find it easy and quick. 10 mins every day.

How long have you been using the machine ? My sister is talking to the salesman ,,, she has osteoporosis in her spine not hips at moment she is 53 ,,,, bit of a worry if spine no better for you ,,, perhaps it takes a long time to work ! Don’t want her to waste her money but it sounds good !! Regards Val

Well I’ve used it for a few years and it’s predecessor Juvent before that. Who knows how much worse (or not) my op would have been without it. Impossible to say. However, the fact that my hips improved keeps me using it.

Perhaps the movements and stresses involved in tennis are not helping your spine. I’m sure I read somewhere that golf wasn’t recommended for osteoporosis. I paid attention to golf not being recommended because an aunt and also a neighbour were both really dedicated golfers and had to give up because of very bad osteoporosis - a lot of vertebral fractures, both lost masses of height. Think it was something to do with the swing.

Tennis is recommended as long as no fractures have occurred. Tennis players racket arms have much better bone density. I haven’t lost any height. I would rethink if I had.

I’ve read that about tennis players arms, I just wondered the forces through the spine. Hopefully you won’t have to stop.

I stopped playing tennis and pickle ball because my endocrinologist told me I could fall and cause a fracture, and it was too jolting. I’m sad about that. I don’t know if you’re in the US or UK, but I think doctors in the US are more conservative even if you haven’t had a fracture. I have two vertebrae that are -3.0 and -3.5, but surprisingly the rest of the vertebrae and hips are still in osteopenia. Do you mind sharing your DEXA scores?

Hi. I’m in the UK. I know I’m putting myself at risk but I want to enjoy life while I can. -3.3 total spine -2.5 hips. I check my height every 3 months… I may think differently if I lose height. Have you fractured?

Thank you so much... it is good to have feed back. They are recognized by the Royal Osteoporosis Society so I felt there must be some benefits, here is hoping!

I don’t know when I spoke to someone on the ROS helpline this time last year I was told that the Marodyne LIV was not the same model as the one they used for astronauts and wasn’t keen to recommend it. So as it was ridiculously expensive - it would cost more than my little old car is worth - I dropped the idea.

Yes, very interesting reading & I would also , love to hear from anyone that has used a Macrodyne LIV as well.

It has been said to be 'clinically proven' but I can't seem to find any info backing this...

I spoke to Marodyne Australia & it has only been available here in the last 3 years.....

So any info would be helpful.

I have a Marodyne LiV and before that a Juvent vibration platform & used faithfully as directed for years. Bone scans over the years weren't improving but at least they were not getting worse. I was also very active. I still broke three vertebrae and am in pain all the time. The vertebrae broke immediately following medical mismanagement of Prolia (denosumab) entailing a short delay in receiving shot. Would vertebrae have broken had I not been on Prolia? Or if the Prolia had not been mismanaged by the doctors? Would I have broken even more had I not been previously using the vibration platforms? There are too many variables and two few subjects (just one: me) to give a realistic answer.
