Hi all, if any of you have had Zoledronic Acid infusions are you able to tell me what level of improvement you saw in your "before" and "after" DEXA scan's and how many treatments you had. Many thanks.

Zoledronic Acid
I’m sorry you haven’t had a reply yet. Perhaps if you look through the related post to the right of your post you might be able to find information that can help you.
If that doesn’t work you could try posting a new question, you sometimes find the weekend isn’t best for posting on HU.
I have a friend who has had two infusions, I asked her but unfortunately she hasn’t had a DEXA scan since before she started.
Good question, I don’t know the answer but am interested!
I’d be interested in the answer too.
Although I suppose we do have to take into account the persons other illnesses and medications because that could affect their results.
For instance steroids deplete calcium from bones at quite a rate, my doc did tell me the figures but I’ve forgotten.
I have had 2 zelondronic infusions, have been told I wont be offered another dexa scan. This seems strange as how do they know its working? After my 3rd I will ask again.
Sounds like rubbish. I think you are right. Who was it that said you wouldn't have another? Even if they don' because of the confidence in the drug they have to chart the change. If I were you I'd put in writing that I wasn't happy not to have one for these reasons and you want to know the extent of the improvement. I have had two treatments and a parathyroidectomy last year too. Had DEXA in 2017 and just had another after two Zoledronic treatments. I imagine they will be deciding whether to do the 3rd but I'd prefer not to have it. At the moment I don't know how much of the improvement is due to the meds and how much is due to removing the rogue parathyroid gland.
The consultant said we know its working if there are no further fractures !! ?
I think from what they have said to me, they are confident of it working in that there are no issues with absorption given it is by IV. Some are exceptionally bad at communication. Takes us back to where we started - "what improvements should you expect in your DEXA"
