Have only had 1 shot but don't ever have any intention in having another. Side effects are terrible. I'll just have to take my chances. Wish I had done more research before letting my oncologist talking me into getting them.

Prolia shot

May I ask why you were given Prolia by oncologist? I would have thought they should refer you to a rheumatologist or an endocrinologist. Not sure, but I think you must have an alternative drug to prevent rebound fractures.
The indictions are that one shot is okay. At least as far as we know at the moment. After a second shot the risk of rebound osteoporosis becomes much more serious.
Thank you for clarifying HeronNS XXX
Of course it's hard to know what to trust any more. Amgen has introduced another gift to us in the form of Evenity, for which the black box warning includes the possibility of death. Hmm. Wouldn't you think they'd keep tweaking that drug until they figured out why it can cause serious cardio issues and work to lessen or eliminate them? Before releasing it on an unsuspecting public.
My oncologist put me on Prolia years ago. Now I cannot stop taking it without risk of fracture.
If you can't tolerate Prolia, could you try an alternative like an ordinary Bisphosphonate? If neither is suitable then at least do the right kind of exercise and take the supplements that lots of people on this forum have mentioned.
Hi Geeithurts10, can I ask what were your side effects with Prolia?
One shot was enough for me too! 15 months later and I’m sticking to a natural calcium and other supplements. Exercise & weights.
I had lots of side effects but the most annoying ones were: Back and leg pain, arms aching, severe itching including my head, dizziness and loss of balance, constipation with gas, and cramps in my hands. This has been my most miserable six weeks since I came off chemo in early 1917. I will see my oncologist next week, he will try to convince me this was caused by something else, but I know better.
Oh that is dreadful, your endocrinologist should offer you an alternative. As Nanaedake says, any of the bisphonates are worth a try. Visit the Ros to find out more theros.org.uk/information-a...

Listed side effects of Reclast or Zometa are almost identical to Prolia. Had first occurrence of bc in 2014. Came back in fall of 2016 met. to liver( there is no cure) Have infusions every 3 wks. of Perjeta and Herceptin .Maybe the reason having so many side effects of Prolia is due to the poison being pumped into my system on a regular basis. However am still in remission after 3+ years and will continue the infusions as long as effective. Will just have to take my chances without any more medicine that is supposedly helping my bones. Maybe this sounds ungrateful, but the last few weeks have been (any word you want to insert except good) Not much fun sitting at home every day afraid to walk or drive. So goodbye Prolia.
Should read 2017 not 1917
Having had Breast Cancer (now supporting my sister with it) I fully understand your feelings. Many cancer friends have had or having treatment for secondary cancer. I had Zoledronic Acid (Reclast) Best wishes to you.
How long did it take for the side effects to start after the shot? And, does the pain worsen and spread as time goes by? That’s what’s happening to me after getting an Evenity shot 2 weeks ago. I am the first patient of my doctor to start this medicine, so he doesn’t have a clue what this is. He sent me to my pain management/back dr. I have an appt in about 1.5 hours. The pain is excruciating in my left hip and is spreading to other places.
Pain in my leg started almost immediately and the other effects started within a few days to a week. My first dizzy spell (at the time I didn't know what was happening because I had never been dizzy before in my 79 years) started about 10 days. I sat on the sofa all day to keep from having a fall. Scary stuff.
Wow. Sounds like what I am experiencing with Romosozumab. It seems like every time I turn around I get another fracture so I
Wonder if I can muddle through the side effects for just one year.
Thanks for your reply.
I think I just be one of the few people who has not had died ffects. I have had 4 shots. After the last one I had my blood done and the rheumatologist rang to say I had 2 low readings and said I should let my doctor know. This has made me feel better that I am being properly monitored.
Yes I turned it down, my consultant became quite unfriendly, said that if I didn’t accept what he recommended, it was up to me. He then closed my file
said I was discharged shook hands, and I felt I was duly dismissed!
Anyone else on Forsteo daily injections
