Good afternoon everyone. I wonder if I can ask your advice please. I have osteoporosis and this morning I sat down on my fellas sofa but when I sat up to stand up, if you understand what I mean, I heard a crack , felt it too. It hurts when I walk on it, when I get from seating to standing...this has never happened before. It hurts top left thigh, and around the back of my hip.
I went to my allotment and crouched down to check something, my partner had to help.me up and it was so painful. I have just taken pain killer to see what happens.
I won't be able to get gp appointment until Monday and 911 will just say go to casualty and I will have an all day wait there...
Should I wait and see what happens until Monday..I have no way of getting to casualty at all today.
Should I just rest up and see what happens, they will probably just say rest, keep weight off and pain killers,.
Thanks.

I think you should somehow get an X-ray to find out what damage might have been done. Perhaps a trip to casualty would be better than just sitting around waiting. I have vertebral fractures and the pain is horrendous.
You say you cannot get to A&E today but could you go on the weekend if the pain continues on the pain scale it is today?
You could phone the ROS helpline but I expect their reply will be the same as mine and poemsgalore. It says on their website that the helpline is closed while we update our systems. We'll be back this afternoon. Thank you for your patience.
I just got through as I wished to check it was up and running for you. Tel:0808 800 0035
Thank you for your replies, I am going to see gp at 6pm today he actually agreed to see me...I am in pain but not as bad as it could be. I have crutches to help keep weight off and a mobility scooter which I am going to use for the first time this evening to ho see gp, I will keep you updated x
Thank you guys for your replies. My gp has arranged for me to have an xray on Monday. At least this way I have an actual time for my xray and won't have to wait long hours in casualty. Take care everyone xx
I think you should definitely try and get it x-rayed as soon as you can.
When I was getting my broken wrist x-rayed for an orthopaedic appointment a week after it had been put in plaster I was talking about how stoic the elderly always seemed on ‘24 Hours in A&E’ and there I was - one of the stoic elderly myself - the radiographer told me that the elderly are stoic - she had even had one elderly lady walk in on a fractured hip and she was in the dept that deals with doctor’s referrals not A&E which means the lady hadn’t been to A&E as an emergency. So definitely go get it checked out as soon as you can
See you have seen your doctor - don’t let that stop you going to hospital if it gets worse before Monday.
Only just catching up and was sorry to read your news but hope you have had a better day today and the hospital trip went as smoothly as possible. My fingers are crossed for minimum damage and a speedy recovery.
Thank you for your reply. Just waiting now. Hospital xray trip was horrible. I had a very long wait and finally an xray.
The person who I saw was a gp because the A and E, that it used to be, is not that any more. They at least did an xray.
The gp then told me that he couldn't read an xray that what he saw was wear and tear, so he sent it to a clinical radiologist for his opinion. He then informed me that I would have to make my own gp chase the xray up.
Hi yes, the gp told me to go to A&E. I went last night because I have had builder's in and couldn't go until then. I got to my local AnE, only to find out it's no longer an AnE...they managed to do an xray after a 3.5 hour wait, my results went to a go, who admitted that he couldn't read an xray....anyway, I was there a total of 4.5 hours...to be told he had no idea what was wrong except what looks like wear and tear..
Now to wait until consultant radiologist has had a look and he told me that I had to get my own gp to chase it up.
