If you haven't actually snapped the bone you could try the techniques for dealing with sprains which are on line. Or hie thee to an emergency department where they can deal with it profesionally. I believe in most cases with a finger they put it in a little splint, a sort of cradle, or even use a neighbouring finger as the splint, depending what the actual damage is.

Oh I hope not. My son broke one of his thumb joints into three peices (playing basketball in playground at recess). I guess nothing was displaced so they just made sure all was in the right place and he had to wear a little cradle thingy (sorry no idea what it was called) to immobilize that joint while the bones knitted together. Generally speaking I think the doctors would prefer the least invasive technique so hopefully you won't have to go through too much.

I just remembered I had a broken leg a few years ago. It took a long wait in the emergency dept for me to be seen and during those hours my leg swelled up to twice its size and I couldn't move it without extreme pain. I believe this is the body's own "splint" or "cast" to stop one from doing damage by moving a broken bone. The swelling went down gradually over the next couple of weeks, and I was put in a removeable splint, no cast, as the bone was not displaced.
