Recently got the blood test results back from my Rheumatologist apt. All seem ok but for the lymphocyte levels which are only at 0.80. Never noticed this on any previous blood tests so don’t know how long it’s been like this. I wondered about it being related to osteoporosis and an acupuncturist I saw on Friday confirmed this. It seems high levels of inflammation will cause this reaction to the immune system. She also reiterated what I suspected ... very high stress levels over a prolonged period of time resulting in too much cortisol production will exacerbate bone loss. Also can be a sign of a more serious underlying illness which is probably why my GP have asked me to make an appointment.
Has anyone else found they have low lymphocytes levels? If so,any advice please? I already follow a healthy diet and supplement regime. Must say I’m not disciplined enough about exercising though I do walk a couple of miles most days at least. The acupuncturist reminded me of the importance of mindfulness and finding somewhere to go in your head, your own private space. Also really suffer badly from insomnia so that’s obviously not helping either 🙄
Anyway, interested if anyone else has noticed this?

I should imagine I have that frequently, as I have RA, Vasculitis and OA with frequent high levels of inflammation with all of those. No hope for me is there, as even though I suffer with fatigue, I find sleeping very difficul.
So sorry poemsgalore1. That’s really tough, I believe there is always hope though. It may not be possible to eradicate but maybe reduce it a little by lifestyle and diet?
Oh really? I haven’t seen anything about it before. No I’m refusing to take the treatments so far. The acupuncturist I saw immediately made the connection. How are you doing at the moment?
I have just had a second session with a counsellor who I am hopefull will help me find ways of coping and accepting the huge changes in my life.I am also awaiting a reply from the hospital as to where I go from here.
I am not having further Prolia injections.
It is looking like my only option is the Bisphosponates again, these come with a whole lot of different side effects, but with very low bone density and 4 possibly 5 non trauma fractures I feel I have to keep trying.
Thing is so far treatment has not prevented the fractures, on the other hand would I have had more without any treatment??
What a total nightmare.
It's one stress after another.
It seems you have a very knowlegable acupuncturist.
I saw the specialist pain nurses yesterday, we decided to leave my pain meds as they are until I have seen the Consultant in October who will I hope be able to give answers to some of my unanswered questions.
It's really good to hear from people on here and to share our experiences with each other.
