Prednisolone and bones

Hi all is anyone on prednisolone and have osteoporosis

I am on 7.5 mg just wondering how it may be effecting my bones??

Yes, I have Vasculitis, and was given very high doses of Pred. 40 mg in tablets every day and 5 1 gram infusions of Methyl pred. I have been reducing the tablets slowly (under instructions of consultant) and now take 5mg daily. I have Osteoporosis. During long‐term ( more than 3 month) use of steroids ( higher than 7.5 mg prednisone). So all I can suggest, is take a Calcium + Vit D supplement, and try to do as much weight bearing exercise such as walking as you can.

Thank you. I asked as I have sarcoidosis and have been told not to take Vitamin D as I have sarcoidosis, but as you have colitis "poemsgalore"'s suggestion in this thread is very good advice. I see an endocrinology Consultant for my osteoporosis and she says I need to take Vitamin D supplement! You could

sorry to continue .... You could ask your doctor to have your blood tested to see if you need to take Vitamin D.

Yes I am taking calcium and vitamin d 1 a day and vitamin D and k2 drops

I will get the levels checked soon
