Osteoporosis contd

Am now in my 2nd month of Teriparatide injections to protect the bones from future fractures, having had 3, 2 femurs and1 vertebrae. So far so good but can't get rid of wheeziness and annoying cough . Also aching legs which are normal apparently. Should be grateful to hear from anyone on Teriparatide to compare notes.

Hi Gillymar

I am sorry no one has replied to your posting. I have a feeling that Teriparatide is not often offered as an OP alternative to patients. It is expensive and can only be used for 2 years so that is probably why. I am sorry you cannot get rid of the wheeziness and cough side effect. This must be very annoying especially as it is is affecting your love of singing.

Thank you Karina for replying. You are right in that teriparatide is very expensive and not generally prescribed. I am lucky that my consultant is able to prescribe it.

I am in my second year on Teriparatide and so far have not broken any bones since starting it.I do have pains in my legs but am now on morphine patches which help greatly.I don't know what I shall take when the two years are up but will cross that bridge when I come to it.

How interesting. Thank you so much for your reply. My consultant is ringing me in September for a telephone consultation as my first 3 months on teriparatide will be up then. Nobody else has replied re the wheeziness, cough etc so I take it that they are from another source. Lower back really giving me problems. Aching and feeling of loss of strength. Still must not complain.
