Hello... I am a Newby on here...I was diagnosed with advanced osteoporosis after having 14 spinal wedge fractures end of 2015/2016..I have lost three inches in height. I have always been very health conscious and active..however..I have had asthma since child given steroids..early menapause aged 34...cancer in 1994....then was given blood thinners 8 years ago warfarin then sinthrome which are the two worst medications for taking Vit K out of your bones..I have just had my second Zolondronic acid infusion its yearly...I self fund with a physio as I could not stand or walk unaided now just use a stick. I just have my partner, son and grandson he is in London everyone else disappeared when I needed some help..you have to do a lot of research yourself regarding medication and stand your corner with the GPs...I am 78 now 79 in July. Not ready for giving up yet. I still have a lot of muscular pain and hopefully no more broken bones.

"I could not stand or walk unaided now just use a stick" - that's such impressive progress! You must have been diligent about your physiotherapy and your zest for living shows through so I imagine that must help enormously.

Fourteen wedge fractures! We were going through those at a similar time, although mine were confined to 5 lumbar in 2015. I agree that GPs are not a lot of help but I think a lot of that is that they just don't have time.

Good for you for pursuing physio. I was fortunate to be able to have both physio and hydrotherapy, which set me on the path back to mobility. I am hoping that by exercising and building up my back muscles, I will eventually have less muscle pain. It's slow progress though! I still use a stick outdoors - more to alert others to the fact that I have a problem than for support really.

Have your fractures led to height loss and its attendant problems? Let's hope we neither of us get any more!
