Had five Kyphoplasy ops which have helped. Taking Ibandronic acid monthly and Calcium tabs daily. Together the OP and Copd have given me a pigeon chest which does nothing to help the breathing. Visit a respiratory gym twice a week. Lost at least 5 inches in height. Loss of weight makes hard seating painful, tried cushions etc any suggestions ?

I too have lost at least 5 inches in height but as I have scoliosis since my teenage years and nothing was done about it, this has not help my loss of height. I have some compression at L2 besides having bad joints and I have had a few joint replacements. I wish I could come up with some answers for you. Let's hope you receive more replies. I think that I should sometimes take a cushion out with me but that is just so that I can reach the table more comfortably to eat.
I am so sorry you are suffering. There are various cushions called pressure cushions which are available on the internet. They are very comfortable and light. My vitamin D level is excellent now. I take 2,000 international units a day in the form of a tiny gel capsule as the hard tablets are not as good. I also take 800 gram of Calcium Citrate plus magnesium and vitamin K2, This is in addition to daily injections of Forsteo and so far touch wood have maintained height of 5ft 4ins (164cms). I too have had scoliosis since presumably birth but it has never been a problem.
May I ask where is the respiratory gym you go to? Is it at a local authority gym, or is it a private company. I have OP and a lung condition. I have done pulmonary rehabilitation classes which were only for 6 weeks, and would love to go to a regular gym class especially for lung conditions.
Hi, the gym I go to is at the Derbyshire Royal Infirmary. The gym is run after having attended a six week course of which the gym was part of the course. If you attended this course you are able to come to the gym. If it helps the contact number is 01332254605. Hope that helps.
Dear slimjnr Thank you very much for the information. Unfortunately I don't live in Derbyshire, but it is so good to know that such follow-on courses exist. I will be doing a second pulmonary rehab course this year and will ask if there is a follow on course in my area (south Buckinghamshire)
