I have beeen prescribed Irbesartan 75mg daily for high blood pressure. I have also had
stents fitted to both Iliac arteries. I have been advised that my high BP is being caused by
claudation restricting blood flow to the lower half of my body. When first on my BP meds
I could hardly walk, dosage was reduced and surgery to fit stents improved my mobility
somewhat but my walking distance is limited. I am also experiencing erectile dysfunction.
BP now is averaging 140/80 but increases to over 190/100 when excercising which scares
me enough to keep strenous activities to a minimum. And it does take a long time for BP
to return to what is my average. Over the festive season I met someone and to overcome
my ED I purchase over the counter medication. Not only did this improve my ED but I found
my ability to walk vastly increased.
Given that my BP is caused by claudation would ED medication be a better option for me?
Is there any reliable research regarding this option?
