Diagnosed HBP Dec 2022. On Amlodipine 5mg since Jan 2023. All good as at May 2024.

Prescribed Amlodipine 5mg daily early Jan 2023. By mid Feb the meds did their job with mild side-effects (numbness in hands/feet with swollen ankles from sitting at a desk for extended periods). These moderated 10 days.

Sitting long periods is no good = swollen ankles. Exercise resolves that within a day. Try avoid sitting / standing without get up/move every 25 minutes.

I had a hip replacement in July and stopped during / after op (low BP). Back on 5mg after 7 days off. Glad my BP returned to normal within 5 days (below 140/90; mostly 135/85 which I accept).

Monitor my BP every 6 months for 7 days (ignore the first 3 days and take average of last 4 days). This works for me.

No further issues thankfully and no need to engage GP to change dosage. Believe that as I get older (64yo) this may change but so far so good (May 2024).
