Hi. I was on Amlodipine 5mg and Losartan 25mg. But the side effects from Amlodipine were not good. Bad aching joints, cough (& I’m asthmatic), itchy skin, swollen ankles and bad anxiety.
Tried to speak to GP but referred to Clinical Pharmacist who has doubled the dose of Losartan. And she will review on 14th Dec. Only been on this for 5 days but BP creeping up and palpitations bad at night. Any thoughts on what to do?

Hmm Pie. In your position I think I’d phone the most recent medical practitioner you have had contact with, tell her the issues.I know my pharmacist quite well and we are on first name terms, so I would have a chat with him, but you might not be on the same terms.
Palpitations are associated with arrhythmias. I would suggest that you bring these palpitations to the attention of your GP especially since they are "bad."
it seems to me that most bp meds cause anxiety. losartan gave me anxiety & chest pains & really didnt control my bp, in fact bp wud go UP about 3-4 hrs after taking it(as did anxiety), then level out. i was only on 12.5 mg. thought about switching to irbesartan but have read side effects are terrible with it too. why cant all these brilliant pharma scientists just come up w a bp med that just does its damn job, WITHOUT SIDE EFFECTS & making us feel bad???? it shudnt b that damn hard.
look into natural & alternative bp control methods
