I don’t myself, and perhaps no one on this forum does as it hasn’t had a mention as far as I know . So, why it try what the experts suggest?

Thank you for your reply, I just wondered if anyone had taken this. x

The problem with sharing quite rare information is this. Suppose one person responds to you and says “oooh I hated being on this”. And yet one hundred other people have been on this medication and don’t see your post and were entirely happy with it.

The response to you would thus be unbalanced.

Whereas the professionals have years of training and experience.

I agree with the premise of your argument. I’m not so impressed with the knowledge of medical professionals to be honest. Also, lived experienced is invaluable and this is what this forum is all about.

hi,

And that is exactly what this forum is for, sharing experiences. It’s a potassium sparing diuretic with less adverse effects than spironolactane but in the same class of medication. I personally have no experience of taking it but I’m hopeful that someone on this forum will spot your post and offer some lived experience.

Thanks

Thank you figster, I have tried spironolactone and didn't get on with it, so yes, I am hoping it has less side effects. Many thanks to you.

Hi TykesammyGood luck with this. I would be very interested to hear how you get on as I continue to have issues with bp meds despite seeing a cardiologist who hasn't offered me anything new. Very very frustrating !

Hi BobbyCollins. Yes I agree It is very frustrating, especially when doctor's think you are just being difficult, or it could be in your head. So I went to Bristol Heart Institute in December, and they wanted me to try spironolactone again, which I have tried in the past and came off of it, so now I am taking Eplerenone, which is of the same family of drugs and it is a potassium sparing diuretic, with SUPPOSEDLY less side effects ha ha we will see. I am only taking half of a 25 mg tablet, as well as my usual Bendroflumethiazide, and also half a tablet of a 60 mg Diltiazem ( or Tildiem as they call it ) It is early days yet for Eplerenone, I usually have to be on a drug for about 4-5 weeks before all the shite kicks in. Hope you can find some help.

I don't care what they see me as BobbyCollins, I know my own body, and what I am feeling, I am very in tune to that. Doctor's yes, have been thro years of studying, but they don't know everything, and how these medications affect different people, we are not the same we are individual. Wish you well.

I agree with you but it does wear you down . Feel I spend all my time just trying to keep well. Best wishes to you too xxx

It does wear you down, I have spent probably as you know 5-6 years going all thro this and it has caused me a lot of anxiety and mental stress, which has made it worse for me, and without doc's knowing what the hell to do, because they don't. They think prescribing a tablet for high bp is going to cure all, without problems OMG I wish.

I think it works by inhibiting aldosterone but I could be wrong!!

Following your post with interest, due to same bp side effects, I am on a spike at present, and have missed 2 chemotherapy sessions due to this. Nothing is taking down my bp, and doctors wringing there hands, was today for blood test due to medication, and they phoning me yet again, was supposed to get review on Friday but that didn’t happen. Going to casualty is next option, but last time was there 8 hours and they didn’t do anything! I’m in the over 200 bracket!
