Anyone experience redness of the chest, face and feet with amlodopine? There is a lovely heat to it as well. Thank You!

Thank You. No rash, just redness.

I experienced very swollen and red and inflamed ankles and lower legs. From my experience, I would advise not trying to persevere with this side effect too long - that’s what I did and the inflammation is now permanent.

It makes you doubt their reply when they aren’t able to offer an explanation, doesn’t it. Amlodipine might suit some (hubby is one) but it certainly doesn’t suit everyone. Even then, I have suspicions about my hubby having to have a pacemaker soon after starting Amlodipine, especially since the same happened to our neighbour. Another friend developed atrial fibrillation shortly after going on it. I also read of some research underway with a revered women’s hospital in Boston into whether this drug was at all suitable for women heartwise. But then, just recently there has been an article in the Press stating the view that as all drugs are only tested on men, they may not be the best for women!

Hi I was moved from Ace inhibitor to Amplodipine in Jan of this year, due to pottasium being very low.

After a few days on amplodipine side effects were flushing / burning around the face, this is a known side effect, it did ease off after a few more weeks, the major side effect I had was palpatations/irregular heart beats, so strong I had to get my GP to change it to another calcium channel blocker LERCANIDIPINE, only into 4th day with this and the side effects are ruducing, will give it 10 days for body to adjust, this may be what you will need to do, give it time.

I experienced redness and heat to my feet and ankles and a nasty rash on my lower legs. I stopped using it in late February but have started using it again now as it seems to be the only thing to bring my BP down. I have to say though that I had been on it for 7/8 months before this happened and I believe that it was the reaction to a nasty fall which triggered these effects (I have RA too) and it started off a flare of the RA but then I couldn't get rid of it. I have heard of redness of the face but not the chest. Have you checked the leaflet that comes in the box, look under side effects. You could also go online to check out more on drugs.com or exlist.com. There are other sites too but I can't remember what they are called. You can also get reviews from other people who have used them.

I had a rash initially but I rode it out and my body adjusted so you may just need to give it a little time

Thanks for all the advice here,I started amlodapine four days ago after my BP increased during long recovery from coronavirus. My feet are a bit swollen and turn dark red and purple and I feel very light headed. It's this usual ?
