One of my BP tablet causing dry cough. Try to contact GP. If they can suggest something. How to come off and try something else. GP rejected my that months all regularly med. Send me a form to fill it in and come off. There was no form. Just NHS website. Not sure what to say. Asked why he rejected the BP and thyroid med. He prescribed it again. I wonder are these Dr's are qualified. In our surgery there was a Dr who wasn't qualified. He even demand for half of the surgery.

Any suggestions how to approach my GP.

One issue leads to another one. This whole issue is causing so much stress. Always very tired with Thyroid.

Smartman, I haven’t fully understood everything in your post, but anyway here is a thought.

The National Institute for Clinical Evidence (NICE) is the organisation which recommends to GP’s on the pathways they should follow. Go to their website and put “hypertension” into their search box at the top of the page. It’s written in doctors’ language so not so easy for us laypeople to follow, but it might help you.

Bear in mind that your doctor must take your medical history (amongst many other things) into account when he or she chooses exactly which of the very many anti-hypertensives to choose.

Or you could go to the website of Blood Pressure UK, the specialist charity. They have a helpline.

Thanks. It was one of my Dr who said to me. This medicine has a history of causing cough. Then I read the leaflet and yes it does. Dr also suggested that I shouldn't come off without consulting them.Anyway now it's a different Dr.

I will look at the website. Thanks for the suggestions

If the name of BP tablet you are taking ends with ……PRIL…..there are quite a few BP tablets that do….there is such a thing as a “pril cough”

I had a dry annoying cough when prescribed Perindopril (or something like that - it was a long time ago) As soon as my doctor changed me to another drug …the cough went…so do write to your GP explaining your cough. …or better still try to get an appointment & see your doctor.

If the doctor you see is in a UK NHS GP practice he/she will be qualified .
