I am 84, have BP of 135/70 ( sometimes higher), been taking Lisinopril 40 mg tablet for 23 years. Also take Levothyroxin for low thyroid. I have lifted weights for strength for 60+ years. I stay hydrated and take NMN for aging, plus a good multivitamin and ubiquinol 50 mg.
I listen to my body. I do not like taking these meds as I believe they were meant to be a temporary fix, not a lifetime effort. The doc keeps refilling my prescriptions....
May be time to cut back on the meds? We'll see.
Thoughts, anyone?

personally I’m happy to take medication. My reasoning is that, as one gets older, one’s body doesn’t work so well, so I replace what it isn’t doing for itself with something else which, whilst not quite so good, does the job.
I, too, take far too many meds. The trouble is that every med has side effects which then mean you need to take something else. The GPs don't have the time to really look at the causes of conditions like hypertension either and just keep prescribing more and more. However, that said, to just stop taking is a very big gamble and the consequences could be dire.
For your age your bp is good. Not all Drs take age into consideration.Spoke to a good GP at A & E who has high bp herself. She said be happy to get down to 130 over 70. I always remember that now .I am realistic. Our bodies deteriorate with age.so this 120 over 80 aged over 70 is daft really.Aim for 130 over 85 over 70 yrs.if poss.and keep happy.
I am happy with 140/90 (70 yo). I often measure 150/100 to 180/120 and never feel poorly, meaning that, at this moment, my body needs increased pressure. Have you ever reflected upon it, what mess the medications make with the natural automatic regulation in the body? It gets disturbed very much and it is not only with the BP regulation, but with other regulatory circuits in the body also. Who knows what the consequences may be.
There was a BP medication, used throughout decades, for which the producers finally admitted to be causing cancer. Do not remember the name of it. Recently, for the three other BP medications, the producers admitted that they possibly cause cancer. I am inclined to trust my body more than to MDs. In the past, where curing the patients was more important than earning profit, it was said that 100+AGE was quite OK. Now, it is not...?!?!
