Rampipril increase

I’ve been on 2.5 mg of Ramipril and doing well for 18 months. About a month ago my BP went up marginally to close to 145 + average. My doctor suggested I go up to 5mg. Since then my BP has been increasing steadily up to 160/80 average. I’m seeing my doc this week but wanted to know if anyone had experienced a similar response after increased dosage.

Thanks

Blood pressure readings are such individal things, Ukscorpio. what I think could be happening is that, the more you take your blood pressure at home, the more anxious you get = vicious circle.

I suggest you take a series of readings at approx the same time each day, having sat quietly for at least ten minutes with the cuff on. Close your eyes, three slow breaths, take the readings still with your eyes closed and no talking. If the reading is high, take three more and throw away the first

Take these records with you when you see the doc.

Tks for the reply and sorry for the late response. I decided to ignore taking readings for a few weeks and just let tge anxieties slip away. Net result I’m coming in mid range 130/70 again. I’m just going to take my own readings in future and not get involved in the regular cycle Doctors thrust on you. I refused to up my dosage to 10 mg as I felt it was counter productive and I’m glad I did.
