Headaches with Losartan

Hello everyone.This is my first posting.For the past two years I have been on many meds. for hypertension and am now on Losartan 25mgms. taken in the evening.I have severe headaches and flushing each afternoon and a productive cough. Does anyone else have the same symptoms? Taking Green tea and de-caf coffee.

Hi there, the trouble with meds is that we all reactive so differently. I'm on 50mg losartan, taken in the morning. My side effects are stomach pain which I've noticed peaks about 3 hours after I've taken it. I'm better in the afternoons. I don't get headaches or flushing . The cough is unusual as it's normally rampiril etc that does that but never say never. I'd go and chat to your pharmacist for advice as in my experience, doctors are not the best in knowing about side effects. Good luck.

Hi Daffodil, A Severe headache is really unpleasant especially with flushing .It does need to be checked out. Maybe the dosage is too low and not controlling your B/P . Can u take your B/P at home and try to be calm ( some of us here have white coat syndrome) A trip back or conversation with your GP and home reading is a good idea. Agree that pharmacists are a great resource. Hope u get it sorted soon. Let us know how it goes.

Thanks for your advice. I am recoding my B/P at home but I became quite obsessive so only record it monthly which gave a good result. I will let you know how things progress after my next reading which will be soon. My GP surgery is very short of GP's so difficult to talk to anyone!

Hi. Hidden Have been on Losartan for 8 months and my doctor had me change to Take in he morning 50mg and Amlodipine 5 mg n he evening. As mentioned people have different problems and trial and error comes into taking BP meds. I tend to have a pain in the stomach and a sore throat, difficult to know which tablet to blame.
