Hi all. this is my first post. Hope am in the right place.

I've been on an 18mths hellish journey with BP meds. I've suffered a multitude of side effects. Gp has now prescribed Indapamide 2.5mg. My BP appears to have stabilised for 6mths now. My main concern now is, for the pass 4 was I developed severe dry eyes syndrome. Can anyone tell me if they have experienced eye problems with indapamide. Thanks

Hi Venishan. Yes you’re in the right place.I’m not on your tablets but I do get dry eyes and i take Omega 3 1000mg. I imagine you can get these at any pharmacy. I know they work (on me) because I’ve tested by stopping and then restarting.

Another option if you are in the UK. Pharmacists offer medicine reviews. You might need to make an appointment. My husband found this very helpful when he thought his BP meds were too high. Pharmacist went over everything with him and wrote to doctor with a recommendation which doc followed.

That's really useful, thank you omega 3 is good for so many other things too. In your diet, mackerel is the best source but would have to eat huge amounts to get the quantity found in the supplement

Hi Venishan4. If you have severe dry eyes then I really think you should speak to your GP (as it can be a side effect of medications) or even an optometrist at your local opticians. I agree with Happyrosie about the Omega 3, but you should always get it checked out just to be on the safe side. Also, there are drops you can use to help with the condition and an optometrist or GP can advice with that, you would then have a two-pronged attack on it by helping from the inside (Omega 3) and the outside with the drops. Good luck.

Hi springcross. My optician diagnosed mild dry eyes 2yrs ago. But due to severe side effect from bp meds my gp prescribed indapamide 2.5mg 6mths ago. 6wks ago this severe dry eyes has become a concern. My gp thought it was hayfever and prescribed loratadine and hayfever eye drops. This has increased the severity of dryness. I've since stop the hayfever meds, and went back to my optician. She confirmed its dry eyes syndrome and advice me to use hypromellose 4 x daily. I 've taken on board the use of omega 3 as suggested by another member.Am crossing my fingers this help to alleviate this symptoms.

Have a good day

I really hope it helps Venishan, speaking as a dry eye sufferer myself, it really is such an unpleasant condition and I take a BP med too which I think has added to the problem. Good luck. 🤞 x

Hi I have been in Indapamide 2.5mg for just over a month, also on Amlodipine. My eyes seem very dry and sore at the moment but I thought it might be due to hay-fever but you have got me wondering. Eyes are mentioned on the side effects leaflet for Indapamide, so if you haven't had an eye test for a while (or even if you have) it might be worth going to an optician and mentioning your concerns re Indapamide apecifically as you need to catch any eye problems early on. Or go to your GP if you can get an appointment.

Hi Bea sea1. Indapamide 2.5mg may well be the culprit for my severe dry eyes. I have been on indapamide for 6mth now, and this increased dry eyes concern started about 6wks ago. Unfortunately it was made worse by hayfever meds prescribed by my gp. My Optician says it dry eyes syndrome and advice me to try hypromellose eyes drops 4x daily. I hope this work.Have a good day

Hi Venishan, apparently as we get older dry eyes can be a problem(62) .It may be caused by your medication if you read side effects then u will know if this is the culprit. I would be reluctant to change B/P meds if it is controlling your pressure. A recent visit to the optician revealed that I have dry eyes with some blockage of tear ducts. The eye rim get red & sore at times. She gave me Hycosan a lubricating eye drops . Just 1 drop a day , it’s expensive but really has relieved the dry eyes. It’s expensive at £10 for 3ml bottle but lasts 6month. Can be bought over the counter. Definitely get the problem diagnosed first and good luck with it all.

Hi Brist 61. I like the once a day application, as apose to 4 x a day . I will definitely change to Hycosan once I 've completed the hypromellose. I would hate the need to change yet again to another bp meds, as am running out of suitable choices.Have a good day.
